There are also numerous fishing villages offering boat trips which are well worth a visit as are the Lizard and Roseland Peninsulas. Wildlife abounds with some of the most beautiful and breathtaking scenery in Cornwall. Nature lovers and walkers will be spoilt with some fabulous cliff-top walks close by. Enjoy one of the many nearby family pubs which offer a wide range of bar meals. All in all centrally located for touring all parts of Cornwall and really is the perfect holiday home for families and couples alike. Leisure facilities: walk to the ponds on site. Camborne is a town in Cornwall, England. It is situated near to Carn Brea, Tolvaddon Downs, Troon, Crowan and Portreath and is one of over 250 towns and villages in Cornwall in which Go2 has cottages or holidays lets available. The nearest main cities are Truro (population 20,920), Plymouth (population 243,795), and Exeter (which has a population of 106,772 according to the 2001 Census).
Camborne is found in what was once one of the richest tin mining regions in the world, and it is also the home town of the famous Cornish engineer Richard Trevithick who was a pioneer in the development of the steam engine. His 'Puffing Devil' steam road locomotive famously climbed Camborne Hill on Christmas Eve 1801 - an historic moment, as this was the first passenger carrying self-propelled vehicle of its kind.
